CREIDEAMH: BELIEF
‘In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.’ Genesis 1:1
Samhainn, now Halloween, is when the ancient Celts believed the veils between this world and the Otherworld were at their thinnest; a time for reflecting on mortality. It is an appropriate time of year for Faclan to explore Belief.
Has knowledge and science brought a new enlightenment? Or has the ‘Light of the World’ been eclipsed by the new secularism? Is belief like plasma suspended between the magnetic poles of reason and emotion, science and theology, expectation and hope; an aurora, luminous but fleeting? Or is it a pure diamond formed by the tectonic forces of human experience. Are we temporary or are we eternal?
We can, at least, ask the question.
