Sandra Murray is from the Isle of Lewis where her father was a boat-builder and her mother ran a knitwear business. She attended Glasgow School of Art and after moving to Inverness became a designer/couturier/artisan. Over 30 years a passion for hand stitching, colour combinations and outstanding fabrics, have taken her clothes into another realm. She is perhaps best known for designing HM the Queen’s outfit for the opening of the Scottish Parliament.

The last four years have seen showcases as far afield as New York and Tokyo. They include exhibitions, commissions, collaborations, events and awards, master classes, catwalk shows, a television documentary and an MBE for services to Scottish fashion and textiles.
